Lulu and her family have been busy making and selling menudo, cookies and drinks at the park to raise money. This will help cover some of the initial costs of planning the reunion. She has created a DVD of the 1st ever reunion in Sweetwater and is selling them for $10.00. If you are interested in purchasing a copy please call her to order. I have her contact information in a previous post so please check her available hours before calling.

Thanks!

Midland Reunion Update

Lulu is asking anyone that videotaped DeLoera Reunion's #2 & #4 which were both

held in Sweetwater to please send her a copy. She wants to convert them to CD's to

make a slide presentation. Her cell # is 714-589-4893 (please call on weekends

Texas time would be after 6pm on Saturday and after 7pm Sunday) Lulu is planning

to have it at the Hilton in Midland, Tx. They require $1000 deposit in order for her to

reserve it for July 28, 2012. The reunion fee will be $50 for everyone over 10 years

old. They don't offer a childs plate for dinner so the extra will go to cover them.

I'll continue to provide updates as she passes them on to me

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update in case you were not at the reunion. This is the band that we had playing for us Saturday night. It's made up of mostly DeLoera descendants and just a few days ago they made it into the top 5 nominees for the Crossover Song of The Year (Liar) at the Tejano Music Awards. This year the awards are taking place on July 17th so check your local listings and watch the show to find out the results. Congratulations guys! The show on Saturday was great!

Free at last...free at last ha ha!

I'm just kidding, kind of. I want to thank all of you who came out and made this a very successful reunion. With your participation we were all able to have a great time! I want to especially thank the following people in no particular order: Mike and Ellie Castro, Jennifer Munoz, Elizabeth DeLoera, Mary Thomas, Able DeLoera, Albert DeLoera, Proximo Sonido, Gloria Mapston (hotel coordinator), J.G. Munoz (missed you!), Becky Benivamondez, Melba and Audrey Munoz, Eva Perry and Gus, Adrian and Jonathon Castro and I'm sure many many more that I can't think of at this moment. If you had a special memory from this past weekend I would love to see it in the comments! For those of you who were invested with us behind the scenes I really really appreciate your help. For those of you who came and enjoyed yourselves it was all worth it. Lulu has chosen Midland for our next reunion in 3 years and I wish her all the best. This will be her 4th so this is old hat for her! I will continue to update this website with family information as you guys pass it on to me and hopefully we can continue to keep up with each other on here and on our myspace page. The photographer that we hired will soon be linking all of the photos she took back to this website so be on the lookout or if you took one of her sheets you can go directly to her site. God Bless all of you!

Hey Everybody we're getting so close!!!

We're putting all of the finishing touches on everything and hope to bring you a very fun reunion. We've gotten Proximo Sonido confirmed and we were able to renegotiate a great contract with the hotel even with our reduced numbers. I love this place, they have been so helpful and are going above and beyond to help us make this an enjoyable experience. The one thing that could make it go sour real quick is if you bring any fireworks. The city of Fort Worth is very strict with their enforcement and so is this hotel. They have told us that they will be forced to escort anyone off of the premises that is caught lighting fireworks. There should be plenty of fun available without bringing these to the hotel so please make sure your kids leave them at home. We don't want anybody's reunion being cut off early. Thanks again for all of your help and participation throughout this entire past year. We'll see you all very soon.

UPDATE

Hi everyone,

This isn't the full update, everything is starting to happen faster than we can post to you. Many of you called us within the last few weeks wondering if we were still going to have the reunion since we did not meet our fund raising goals. We assured you that we would still have one but that there might be some changes which would need to be made. Here is a short list of where we are up to this point:

* We will be having the reunion in the same hotel - they have been very accommodating!

* We are managing to keep everything the same except you must now buy your own shirts

* Red, White, Blue, Green are the official family colors this year

* Please do not send any more money to Albert in Snyder - that account was closed

* Please do not put us in the position of turning anyone away at the door - we do not plan on collecting any money that day. The hotel has extended their deadline to us so if you know of anyone who has changed their mind and wants to come you will have to get the money to us next week in Dallas at the latest

Thank you to everyone who came out to the hotel on Saturday morning and helped put the finishing touches on our reunion. It's been a hectic weekend but I will post a full update within the next few days so please be on the lookout and be ready to touch base with your family and give them all the news! We're all very excited and hope you are too!

Approximate length of Act: ________________________________

Requirements/Rules:

Participants must complete this entry form and return it by May 30, 2009. Only those who have submitted an entry form will be able to participate.

Due to time constraints, the number of performers allowed to compete will be limited and taken on a first

come, first serve basis.

Each act should be limited to approximately 3 minutes.

• Keep your act as close to 3 minutes as possible.  The audience tends to lose interest after about 3 minutes for each individual act.

• Practice your act several times prior to performance date.  Practice makes perfect.

• Wear a uniform or an appropriate costume during your performance.  This will get the audience’s attention.

• And most importantly . . . be creative and have fun!  If you are having fun, the audience will too!!

Frequently Asked Questions

The following questions have come from enough people that we decided it might be best to post them for others who might be wondering the same thing:

1. Will our kids be able to bring friends to hang out with them for the day?

The short answer is yes.  We would hope that everyone would take this opportunity to get aquainted with family members that you may not be aware of and make new friends.  The $50 fee will still apply to anyone attending (free under 10 only applies to child of a paying parent)

2. How many guests can we bring and when do we need to send in their money?

As many as you like as long as they each pay $50.  We need the money ASAP

3. Could we have friends just join us for the dance that evening and not pay the fee?

There have been a lot of variations on this question but the standard is set in order to be fair to everyone who has paid.  In order to keep confusion to a minimum the only people who will be allowed in our part of the Hotel will have to have their wristband ID's on.  You will only receive these if you have paid your fees.

4. Why was there a 4-15-09 deadline? I was thinking of just paying at the door.

This might initially sound harsh but we will not be collecting any funds at the door.  Several of us have been working tirelessly for the last year to bring you an efficiently organized reunion.  A lot of work has gone into this planning and by the time July 4th comes around we want to enjoy the fruits of our hard work.  Mainly in getting to visit with you.  The money that is needed has to be spent before the reunion even starts.  As much as we want to see you if you have not pre-paid or made arrangements with Albert it is too late for you to attend this reunion.

Genoveva DeLoera

Thank you Ray Garcia for forwarding this picture to us.  This was Margarito, Antonio, Valeriana and Anastacia's mother.  Her husband Ramon DeLoera died in Mexico and I'm not sure if anyone has a picture of him but if they do please share it with us.

April 15th Deadline - Clock's ticking

Hello Everyone, just a quick note to update you on our funds.  I put up the thermometer so that everyone could see where we were with our numbers.  I appreciate everybody who has been able to send in their money early.  I understand that everyone will not be able to do this so I urge you to send in a note to Albert and set up a payment plan.  Mary Thomas has been getting some checks sent to her and in order to guarantee that you get credit for your payment it needs to be sent directly to Albert (Please follow the instructions on this blog and on your newsletter)  We will be having our next committee meeting sometime after our April 15th deadline to go over any changes in our total person count.  Our goal is to not have to collect any monies at the reunion so that we have more time to enjoy it.  So if you haven't sent your payment or a note requesting a payment plan then you won't be counted so please get back to us as soon as possible.

Thank you for all your support
Chris Thomas
